Leadership Lessons for Life: Win in Your Life with March Madness

Even if you aren’t a basketball fan, you likely have heard of March Madness. When I think of March Madness, I think about all the love basketball fans have for the sport and what they do to focus on it. Even if you aren’t a basketball fan, let’s talk a bit about how you can apply the love and focus of March Madness in your own life.

What do you love? What do you have passion for in your life? People who are into March Madness spend a good deal of time diving into theirs, basketball. They talk to other people that love it. They check the stats and research the teams. They watch the games. They play the fantasy leagues and brackets.

Perhaps you have a love of travel. Are you spending a lot of time with things related to travel? Do you give yourself time to chat with others about travel? How much enjoyment do you get looking up places to travel and comparing trip options? Do you make time to take some trips? What travel magazines do you read and which travel shows do you watch about potential destinations?

Maybe your passion is your family. Do you carve out time for being with them? How often do you have conversations with others about what you've done with your family time together and what you might do in the future? Do you research activities your loved ones might enjoy? Are you reading magazines that might support your family time possibilities?

Suppose your dream is photography. How much time do you spend engaging in it? Are you a part of photography groups where you can give and get fresh ideas? How often do you scout new locations for you to have later photo shoots? Do you take classes to help you build your skills?

I hope you are getting a sense of what I'm driving at here. I'm suggesting you experience a bit of "madness" in your life and not just in March. Lean into your passions and joys. Let them become an integral part of your life all year long. Allow yourself to experience the joy they bring and cherish the energy they infuse in you.

As you make these championship moves in your life, know that I'm rooting for you. Your dreams absolutely can come true.
